Ranbir’s sis not in good terms with Deepika

Sister Riddhima Kapoor who is against Ranbir's relation with Deepika Padukone sounds diplomatic when asked about Ranbir’s off-screen chemistry with Deepika Padukone. She said, “They make a good on-screen pair and their chemistry is fine. Off screen I’ve never seen them together in that sense, so I don’t go by the media reports.”

It is not only Riddhima who is against the relationship but mother Neetu Singh who earlier accepted Deepika as her daughter-in-law now passed off Deepika calling her only a mere friend of her son. Deepika lost the love and respect of the Kapoor family due to her constant fighting with Ranbir and not mingling with him nicely.

She is no longer the darling of the Kapoor family as she doubted Ranbir being in love affair with the his ‘Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahini’ Katrina Kaif.

Bollywood's bad run continues in cricket too

The first quarter of the year 2009 will go down as one of the worst in Bollywood history, what with majority of films biting the dust and the unending tussle between the producers-distributors and the multiplexes, which has added to the woe. Multiplex owners who had hoped that the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) matches would bring in some revenues were disappointed as they were not given the rights to telecast the matches.

For Bollywood too, the first two days of the Indian Premier League has turned out to be very disheartening with bad luck continuing to haunt them here as well.

All those who are still confused, Bollywood is represented by famous and glamorous personalities like Shilpa Shetty, Preity Zinta and Shah Rukh Khan, all of whom are the owners of three different teams. To cut a long story short, new entrant Shilpa Shetty's Rajasthan Royals (last year's winner), Preity Zinta's Kings XI Punjab and Shah Rukh Khan's Kolkata Knight Riders have all lost to their opponents in their opening matches.

However, these are early days and here is wishing for a resounding comeback for Bollywood, both on the cricket pitch as well as the box-office!

South beauty Lakshmi Rai enters Bollywood

Lakshmi Rai , an eye-pleasing blend of beauty and oomph, is now getting her foot in the door to Bollywood.

Often referred to as Dhoni’s girl because of her alleged romantic affair with the swashbuckling cricketer, 27-year-old Lakshmi is shifting base from Chennai to Mumbai. She has worked down south in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada cinema, but has now set her eyes on Bollywood.

According to Lakshmi, she often used to scuttle between Chennai and Mumbai for professional work but since offers from Mumbai have increased manifold in the last few months, she’s decided to shift. And Lakshmi doesn’t think her increased demand in Bollywood is due to the link-up with Dhoni but due to a magazine cover that brought her to the notice of people in Mumbai.

Even as Lakshmi has got for herself a house in Malad, she’s been getting offers from big production houses like Yashraj Films and TIPS. However, sources say Lakshmi hasn’t signed on anything yet because of the exclusive contracts that might prevent her from working elsewhere.

Lakshmi says she’s taking her time and will sign a film with a big banner soon.

Chitrangda: Gender complications

If you think we are out of our mind, it’s not us you should be blaming! With Lok Sabha elections just round the corner, the actress was taken aback when she received her Voter ID card, where ‘Male’ was printed in the gender tab! A shocked Chitrangda told us, “I used to stay in Meerut before, later I shifted to Gurgaon, and had to update my address details. To my surprise when I received my new voter ID card, it had my picture with ‘male’ written below it. How can they put up a woman’s picture and type male for gender? It’s unbelievable! And when I asked them to change it, they said that the procedure would be a long one, so I might as well live with it for the time being,” she laughed. “However, I’m told that as long as my picture is right I can vote, so I am going to do that.” Phew! It’s surely a man’s world out there, Chitra!

Looking for 'Miss Bollywood'

The cricket stadiums of South Africa are unlikely places in which Bollywood should scout for future talent... but that’s just what IPL team owners Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta and Shilpa Shetty will be doing... hunting for a new starlet from among the South African women attending the cricket extravaganza over the next five weeks.

IPL has announced a film role for any woman with the potential to take Bollywood by storm. She will also win a cash prize, a trip to India and other prizes in a ‘Miss Bollywood SA’ competition.

“We’re looking for someone who has the star quality to stand out in a crowd,” said the tournament’s chairman and commissioner Lalit Modi, adding, “these matches with their mix of fun and excitement are an excellent environment to identify the kind of person who is a natural stand-out.” Shah Rukh agreed, “The idea is to search for someone who has the attitude and appearance that automatically draws the eye.”

Girls will be chosen from stadiums in Cape Town, East London, Port Elizabeth, Durban, Bloemfontein, Kimberley, Johannesburg and Pretoria. One finalist from each venue will be chosen, leaving eight winners to be hosted and feted at The Wanderers in Johannesburg at the final on May 24. The ultimate winner will be announced from among them.
