Bollywood actress ‘Kangana Ranaut’ celebrated her 22nd birthday on Friday.

From being the alcoholic bar dancer in ‘Gangster’, the Himachali lass has come a long way.

After ‘Gangster’, Kangana become the hottest and most talked about actress in the tinsel town, and lots of offers knocked her doors.

She then followed it up with back-to-back hits like ‘Woh Lamhe’, ‘Life In A…Metro’, ‘Fashion’ and the recent one being ‘Raaz - The Mystery Continues’.

The latest darling of Bollywood, Kangana Ranaut has worked with multi-talented actors including Emraan Hashmi, Adhyayan Suman, Sharman Joshi and Kay Kay Menon among others.

The latest darling of Bollywood, Kangana Ranaut was born in a village named ‘Bhambla’ in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh on March 20, 1987.

Her mother was a school teacher and her father was a businessman. She has one elder sister and a younger brother.

Kangana did her schooling in Chandigarh from DAV model school Sector 15 and later shifted to Shimla, where she completed her high schooling.

After that, she joined the Elite Modelling Agency situated in Delhi in 2003 to become a model. But she was not successful.

Before moving to Mumbai, Kangana joined Asmita Theatre group during 2003-2005 as a theatre. She came to Mumbai in early 2004 and struggled initially to join film industry, but she failed and went back to Delhi to finish her education.

In 2004, she joined Asha Chandra’s acting school to brush herself to face camera. After a fight of nearly two years, she met Anurag Basu in September 2005 and was selected for Gangster.

The girl has won many awards for her exceptional performances in her films. In 2007, she won Filmfare Best Female Debut Award, Gangster; Filmfare Fairever Fresh Face of the Year Award, Gangster; IIFA Best Female Debut Award, Gangster; Star Screen Award for Most Promising Newcomer - Female, Gangster; Zee Cine Award for Best Female Debut, Gangster; Stardust Superstar of Tomorrow - Female, Gangster and Bollywood Movie Award - Best Female Debut for Gangster.

In 2008, she won Stardust Breakthrough Performance Award (Female), Life in a… Metro; and in 2009, she bagged two awards for ‘Fashion’ including Stardust Best Supporting Actress Award plus Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award, Fashion.
