`King Khan’ returns home to cast vote in polls, says he is disappointed with KKR performance

Bollywood star and owner of the IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders Shahrukh Khan returned here this morning from South Africa to cast his vote during the third phase of general elections on Thursday, but told reporters that he is disappointed with the performance of his team.

He was quoted as saying that he would not be returning to South Africa any time soon till he was assured about his team’s chances of winning the second edition of the IPL.

Asked for his comments on KKR skipper Brendon McCullum reported threat to resign if the team did not make it to the semi-finals, Khan said: “He is fantastic; he just needs to get his batting form in order.”

On former skipper Sourav Ganguly’s rich vein of form, Khna said: “As always fantastic. Dada is playing well. But, we have to win as a team.”

“It’s hard for me to see the boys so demoralized,” Khan said.

It’s raining honours for Mallika Sherawat

After becoming the first Bollywood celebrity to have a milkshake named after her at the hotspot ‘Millions of Milkshakes’ in Hollywood city, Mallika Sherawat has now become the latest recipient of the prestigious “Arts Award” in New York.

The sexy actress was honoured recently for her unparalleled contributions to and influence with the Indian diaspora.

The event was organised by Honorable Jerramiah Healy, the Mayor of Jersey City and the New Jersey co-chair of President Barack Obama’s primary campaign to honor the Indian community and its contributions to the United States.

Out of America’s 100 largest cities, Jersey City has one of the largest percentages of South Asians. Area politicians, business persons, and members of the press attended the event.

As a congressional honoree, U.S. Congressman Frank Pallone (father of the India Caucus in the U.S. Congress), among others, also graced the event with his presence. The host of the event was JCHA Commissioner Raj Mukherji (the youngest commissioner in city history to serve the Housing Authority).

Bollywood's new queen

MOVE over Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. There is a new contender for the throne of Bollywood's reigning queen.

British-Indian model-turned-actress Katrina Kaif has gone, in seven years, from a nobody in Bollywood to the babe who launched a thousand billboards.

She is the face of India's first Barbie doll, which goes into production in September this year. The 24-year-old beat Aishwarya to the contract.

FEROZ KHAN Bollywood legend dies at 69

Legendary Bollywood filmmaker and actor Feroz Khan has died aged 69. The veteran star had been suffering from cancer and passed away amongst family and friends in his Bangalore home. Dubbed the 'Clint Eastwood of the East', Khan was renowned for his swashbuckling roles as an actor, and was the first Bollywood director to introduce foreign location shooting, now a widespread norm in the industry. Feroz Kahn's biggest hit was the 1980 film 'Qurbani', which he directed, produced and starred in. Khan is survived by his son Fardeen Khan, a Bollywood actor; a daughter Laila Khan Rajpa, and brothers Sanjay and Akbar Khan, who are both actors and filmmakers.

Saif Loves It When Kareena Goes Dare Bare

Bollywood heartthrob Saif Ali Khan seems to be someone every girl would love to be in a relationship with. Usually beaus don’t prefer their ladyloves to flaunt their sexy curves in public, but Saifu disagrees with that, and says that he doesn't have a problem with Kareena being a hot and sexy public figure!

A few days back, there were rumours that Saif wasn’t happy with some of Kareena’s sizzling sequences with Akshay Kumar in ‘Kambakht Ishq’. Also, it was being held that the actor got really furious with Bebo’s swimsuit show for a scene in the much awaited flick.

But now, Saif has reportedly clarified his stand on this saying that he is quite open-minded and does not have a problem with his girl having a mind of her own.

According to our source, while Kareena was shooting for ‘Kambakht Ishq’ recently, with the likes of Akshay Kumar, Sylvester Stallone and Denise Richards, Saif was also present on the sets. Not once did he mind seeing her dressed in sexy body-hugging outfits, and was apparently loving it, as he could be seen gazing and whistling at ladylove Bebo throughout.

Ranbir’s sis not in good terms with Deepika

Sister Riddhima Kapoor who is against Ranbir's relation with Deepika Padukone sounds diplomatic when asked about Ranbir’s off-screen chemistry with Deepika Padukone. She said, “They make a good on-screen pair and their chemistry is fine. Off screen I’ve never seen them together in that sense, so I don’t go by the media reports.”

It is not only Riddhima who is against the relationship but mother Neetu Singh who earlier accepted Deepika as her daughter-in-law now passed off Deepika calling her only a mere friend of her son. Deepika lost the love and respect of the Kapoor family due to her constant fighting with Ranbir and not mingling with him nicely.

She is no longer the darling of the Kapoor family as she doubted Ranbir being in love affair with the his ‘Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahini’ Katrina Kaif.

Shahrukh eyes Oscar

After delivering some award winning performance in films like DDLJ, Dil To Pagal Hai, Devdas, Swadesh, Pardesh, Mohabatein, Chak De India, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi to name a few, King Khan is now eyeing towards Oscar as he wanted to make things big in an international level. He is sick and tired of national acclamation and wanted to work with renowned directors like Deepa Mehta to pave his way to the Oscar by portraying roles in a serious cinema.

He wanted to taste the flavor of Oscar like AR Rehman who won the best music director award for ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ and Aamir Khan who at least got to step at the doorstep of Oscar for his crically acclaimed film, ‘Lagaan’. Shahrukh Khan was the first choice of Oscar winner ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ for Anil Kapoor’s role but he had no qualm in rejecting the offer and went ahead to seek Preity Zinta’s advice.

King Khan had reportedly asked Preity Zinta to introduce her to the critically acclaimed director Deepa Mehta on their trip to South Africa for the IPL so that he can do some serious cinema with her after he came to know that Preity has teamed up with Indian-Canadian filmmaker Deepa Mehta for her next film.
